Seeking help regarding SONY DVD PLAYER DVP-C650D Error Code

Hello. I would like to know the meaning / cause of / and hopefully how to resolve SONY DVD PLAYER DVP-C650D problem / error code E 27 00 . Sony support simply replied "take the unit in for service. Can't tell you why you're getting the error nor what it means". Makes you think twice about buying higher-end products from this company. Think at $400 - 600 for the unit one could get better help!

Any ideas?
