The main function dial popped off. (power dial)

The dial that enables a user to select pc mode, off, DSC, etc has popped off. I was told that it had to be that a new dial had to be sodered on to a circuit board. After further inspection I detected that this piece was never sodered before. I fact it's just a tention lock piece that can be wore down due to usage and time. I very cheaply engineered piece for such an expensive camera at the time it hit the market.
